BOSS Opening Plenary
Omar is the director of government relations and sector development at Vantage Point. In this role, Omar nurtures constructive public dialogue and collaboration to advance a healthy public policy environment for the not-for-profit sector. He has a diverse background leading the development of consulting services, urban planning, sustainable finance, interdisciplinary research, community development programs, and public engagement initiatives across multiple economic sectors and regions.
Omar co-founded Happy City, an internationally acclaimed urban planning and design consultancy that helps build healthier and happier cities, neighbourhoods, and buildings. Omar served as the co-chair of the Vancouver City Planning Commission (VCPC), a body of citizens with a mandate to advise the Mayor and Council about planning and development issues that affect the city’s future.
Omar completed a degree in International Business from the Technological Institute of Monterrey in Mexico City and an MA in Community Development and Social Planning from the University of British Columbia.
Omar is passionate about community, sustainability, music, and mountains. He is a smug commuter cyclist, a budding skier, and an aspiring yogi.
