Beyond Salaries and Compensation

In this decent work workshop, participants will:

  • Develop an understanding of decent work and articulate the importance of decent work
  • Develop an awareness for how decent work relates to the experiences of workers in the not-for-profit sector, with a focus on experiences through COVID-19
  • Critically assess the elements and factors that promote or discourage decent work in their own work, organizations, and in the sector
  • Identify practical action to take to advocate for and implement decent work practices at an individual, organizational, and sector level

We aspire to have a critical and refreshing exploration of decent work in the sector, for example, exploring how decent work relates to white supremacy, capitalism, equity, decolonization, and inclusion. Participants will engage with decent work beyond concepts like living wage and consider the systemic forces promoting or inhibiting decent work to progress in the not-for-profit sector.
